Giving Universalis for Christmas

Posted by universalis on 5 December 2025

At this time of year, we are all thinking of presents we can give, sometimes to people who are far away.

Why not give Universalis?

For older people who perhaps can’t get out much, Universalis can help maintain contact with the prayer life of the universal Church. Or if you have a younger friend, with all the distractions of life around and ahead, Universalis is a solid preparation and continuing foundation for an ‘Apostle for life’. Even for people who never take their noses out of the shiny black rectangles in front of them, they will see through the device for once, into a wider world – indeed, an infinite one.

Universalis lasts for ever and never runs out, so it really is a gift for life.

Giving a registration code

The easiest way to give Universalis is in the form of a Universalis registration code.

A Universalis registration code is the best of gifts to give, because it works everywhere: on iPhone/iPad, on Android, on Mac and on Windows. It gives all the Mass readings for every day, forever, and all the Hours of the Liturgy of the Hours for every day, forever. There are also benefits such as the daily ‘About Today’ pages, with their stories of the saints and their illustrations.

A Universalis registration code costs £19.99, which at today’s exchange rates is $26.68 or €22.90.

It is very simple indeed to give a Universalis registration code as a present.

  1. Buy the registration code from us in the usual way.
  2. Send the 9-digit code to your friend – in a simple and functional email, or written inside a beautiful Christmas card.
  3. (Optional, but very helpful) – Send us an email to let us know that the code belongs not to you but to your friend. Tell us your friend’s name and email address. That way, if your friend loses the code and needs to be reminded of it in five or ten years’ time, we will know where to look.

Alternative: giving an App Store app

If your friend has an iPhone or iPad, and you have an App Store account, and you both live in the same country, then Apple will let you give the Universalis app as a gift. The app costs less than a code, but it will work on the iPhone and iPad and nowhere else. Here are Apple’s instructions.

Alternative: giving a Google Play gift card

The Google Play Store doesn’t allow you to give apps. But if your friend has an Android device which gets its apps from Google Play, and you have a Play Store account, and you both live in the same country, and that country is the USA or the UK, then you can buy a gift card from the Play Store and send it to your friend. You can check the amount you need to send by looking at Universalis in your Play Store. Here are Google Play’s instructions for gift cards.

Buying groups of registration codes

This is not for everyone, but some of you do do it. It is a way of benefiting many people all at once. For instance:

  • You might want to support a whole confirmation class…
  • …or the parents of a whole First Communion class, who would like to help their children prepare but don’t have the time or don’t know how.

If you buy ten or more codes at once then we will give them to you at half price.

To do this:

  1. Decide how many registration codes you want.
  2. Email us at universalis@universalis.com and tell us how many, and we will guide you through the process. It is quick and simple.
