How to send a Contact Us message

Posted by universalis on 16 October 2019

All the Universalis apps and programs now have a command called “Contact Us”. This is a good way of getting in touch with us, because it creates an email which automatically contains a lot of useful information – such as which version you are using, what calendar and language settings you have, and what page you are looking at.

On Mac and Windows, the command to use is “Help > Contact Us”.

On iOS and Android, here are the steps to take:

  1. Tap on the text in the middle of the screen, to make the toolbar appear at the top.
  2. On the left-hand side of the toolbar, tap on the circled “i” (ⓘ) and a menu will appear.
  3. In the menu, pick the item called “Contact Us”.
  4. A new email will appear in your email app, ready to be sent. Please add a message to that email so that we can understand why you are sending it.
  5. Send the email.

Possible problems

Universalis uses the standard features of the operating system to request an email to be sent.  Sometimes the operating system can’t find the email program you normally use. This is especially likely if you normally send emails through a Web interface.

The result can be that you find yourself sending a message “from” an email address you don’t normally use (it may not even be a valid one!), or you find that nothing gets sent at all.

Here is how to get round the problem:

  1. Immediately after trying to do “Contact Us”, use your own email system the way you normally do. Create a new email to universalis@universalis.com
  2. In the body of that email, use the “Paste” facility. On Windows this is Ctrl+V, on the Mac it is Command+V, on iOS the word “Paste” should appear when you tap your finger in the body of the new email, and on Android the same thing should happen but you may need to hold down your finger rather than giving just a quick tap.
  3. Please add a message to the email so that we can understand why you are sending it.
  4. Send the email.
